School work and stubborn flu is taking a toll on me. The amount of stress is making me feel headache these few days. The flu lowered my threshold for stress more than i thought. It made me feel so retarded during Japanese Oral test today. I don't want to replay the scene again. Thinking back, i don't know what the heck I was saying then.

Taking an intensive module for a breadth on top of 5 core modules is so much harder than i thought. Peers around me are feeling stress alright, but they don't understand the amount of time I need to study. The fact is that i need to spend like at least 15 hours more a week than most people to study because of Japanese language which have homework and like 2 quizzes a week? How can I afford to attend all the lectures which I have no idea what's going on half the time? I could spend this time studying on my own and understand better with shorter amount of time!

I really look forward to the coming holiday in less than 3 weeks time but at the same time, I don't want exam to come so soon! I guess i have to bite the bullet and use the bullet to kill my flu!

でも、毎日リムさは私の傍にいますから、今は以前より生活に嬉しいです。

I have been reassured that the route I have taken is correct and the destination is some where within sight. The passenger has decided not to take a back-seat and instead sit by my side, accompanying for the rest of the journey.

A sense of relief and gratitude. Motivating me to overcome the bumpy ride ahead.

Singapore F1 Race 2009

Is finally over! Back to work...

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Why is it so easy for others to forget that I am also a human? That I am not up to your expectation does not mean that I am less a person. That I can feel.

Unsustainable economic development not only make people materialistic but also superficial. What happen to the value of intangibles? Some times I really wonder what's the point of building a strong and upright character when it doesn't seems to matter much anymore. Whatever being measured are just skin-deep. Being scheming brings you money, being dishonest brings you qualification, even being bimbo brings you fame.(Just be tall and good looking and you bring everyone down to their knees)

Is it really true that it takes a wise man to understand wisdom?

David, if you ever read my blog, I totally agree with your insights into our degrading society.

We are losing our free-will. People wear same style, eat same food, listen same music. In short, we are conformist in modern disguise or in a more crude-sense, a mindless zombie trying to outwit each other.

Or maybe, I should be the one blending into the crowd? It's so tempting to focus on things that doesn't matter.

I

Do what I need to know.
Know what I need to do.
Need to do what I know.

but it's so nice! David, screw you!

Thursday, September 17, 2009

I start to feel that the route I have taken is bringing me nowhere. The destination seems distant and blur, does it even exist now? Now that the passenger is taking me for granted, do I even want to go there anymore?

When should I stop driving?

Ever wonder why in ESE...

Ever wonder why your relationship with people are just so shallow? Simple, you treat people as your tool and tool they are react to you.

For the rest, place your trust not on the correct person but avoid placing it on the wrong one instead. It makes your life happier.

A real friend does not speak ill of you, especially in front of everyone. Just open your eyes and look around. =D

The day hasn't been smooth since the moment i woke up. Not like it's something new anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is an invisible line. And this line is on the verged of being crossed. I am sick of having this kind of feeling time and again. How long more can it last? Am i trying too hard? Or am I being denied on purpose?

Nobody enjoys the feeling of being hung in the air. You hang me up long enough and I am sure I will dry up soon. And being a living being, conditioned reflex will ensure that I won't let myself have the chance to get hung dry again.

On the side note, I am not going to attend the birthday celebration anymore unless I find good reason to. My patience has been expended. Well done everyone.

As the days go by, my self-esteem has been slowly eroded away from me...

Getting on the car without knowing the route to your destination. You have to drive on, especially with passenger in your car. Constantly thinking about your destination, believing that if you have the end in mind, you will eventually reach your destination.

Along the way, you will inevitably stumble upon road blocks and dead ends. You know that if you just get off the wheel and stand on top of your car to have a clearer view, you will know that it's nothing but a stepping stone and a check point leading you closer to your destination.

Now the problem is, how do you know that your passenger wants to go where you are headed?

What the mod!

Having 6 Modules is more sick then i thought.

AR2723 STRATEGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE
CE2134 HYDRAULICS
CE2184 Infrastructure and the environment
CE2407 ENGINEERING & UNCERTAINTY ANALYSIS
LAJ1201 JAPANESE 1
LSM1401 FUNDAMENTALS OF BIOCHEMISTRY

AR2723 is basically a super abstract and reading-intensive architecture module.

CE2134 is literally a "kick-ass" module where you get your ass kicked around first by lecturer who make you feel like a primary school kid because you totally don't understand, and then by tutorials which questions you don't even want to read.

CE2184 is still quite alright now, not sure how it will be when project starts. But the first linear interpolation technique is very abstract.

CE2407 is basically a probability and statistic - intensive module

LAJ1201 steals 7 hrs of my school time every week excluding preparation, revising, and studying for quiz every lesson.

LSM1401 is a WTF. For those who have no A lvl background, have fun reading alien words like apoptosis, ligase, polymerase, bla bla bla...

Lets see what happens during semester peak...

I have come to a point where things are just beyond me. I am not accepted as who I am but who people want to see me as. And it makes me wonder about the healthiness of this kind of relationship. Even the strongest of men needs the comfort of a shoulder at times. Why the deprivation?

Tough choices.

7km jog in the park. Shutting out voices, keeping in sanity.

Walking out and up

Humans fear what they do not understand. They worried, anxious, paranoid over things that they have little influences over for they fear that the worst will come true.

Is it part of our highly evolved survival instinct, where our ancestor needed to be constantly on high alert when they entered unknown territories and where most feared and would rather remain safe in their cave to increase their survivability?

It's also because our ancestors walked out of their caves and ventured beyond the known and guaranteed, that we, humans, are where we are now. They stepped out of comfort zone, willing to put down their past mistakes, and seek who they want to be.

Fear keeps us safe. Overcoming fear gives us safer future.

Amazing how true this stone-age idea still works for us till now.

Borrowed a quote from Alice:

"As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn’t supposed to ever let us down, probably will. You’ll have your heart broken and you’ll break others’ hearts. You’ll fight with your best friend or maybe even fall in love with them, and you’ll cry because time is flying by. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, forgive freely, and love like you’ve never been hurt. Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. you just have to live life to the fullest, tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone’s hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. Don’t be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all, live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back. - Unknown "

Life focus...

I like to say...

LIFE SUCK!

But i know it's naive.

Who says your happiness is a given? You look for it, source for it, fight for it, and try to hang on to it. And that's what life is supposed to be.

You can choose to take the easy way and wait for miracles to happen. It's possible, why not? But you deprive yourself of opportunities. Miracles do come by faster if you actually work hard for it.

We fight, We survive, We find meaning in life.

There's beauty in every corner. It need not be the highest mountain, the deepest ocean. It can just be hidden within your daily life. Look upon the sky for the source of life, look into the soil for the world of diversity. Look into the soul of human being for compassion, the rabbit for innocence. Listen to music piece for expression, look at art piece for inspiration. Even looking at simple things like your favourite pen can you discover beauties.

What do you want to protect?

To focus on?

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Naive.

Responsibility still holds more than connection. It does not matter if it was a mistake right from the start. Two lefts does not make a right. But three lefts do.

A shirt, no matter how misfit, is still being worn, Just because you took the shirt. It's strange we held on to it, hoping that either will change to fit one day.

Sometimes, the roles and status quo does not commensurate. I am bemused by my self-entanglement in this antagonism. How can I remain oblivious to this incongruity?

Do your role. A king should do what a king should do. It's ridiculous that a commoner has to do your role to maintain the happiness of your kingdom.

It was but a short-lived delirium. How can I maneuver out of this cacophony?

Yearning to rest my soul... And awake to a whole new world, out of everyone's life.

Down down down with it....

Swayness comes in swarms.

And it has swayed towards me. Hand phone down, camera down, guitar down, and now camp manpower down....

And the midst, i am glad to have something that keep me up.

Do you know me?

I believe there's multiple sides to every human. From hypocritically nice to terribly nasty, people choose when and whom they will reveal certain faces. There's always one side which truly reflect their personality. However, in today's dog eat dog world, people often chose to reveal the hypocritical self for selfish gains(thinking that everyone is blind). This, will altogether form a topic by itself which I would not want to touch on for this post. However, for some special cases, there will be temporal changes to a person's characteristics depending on the individual state of well being.

When I am at the lowest of my esteem, I will inevitably project a facade of nonchalance. Bullies and insults do not very well register into my self-defense mechanism and thus more often than not, people tend to take advantage of my inaction as an affirmation of their action.

There's an inner will in my heart that are often overshadowed by lack of self-confidence due to temporary down time. It's a will that wants to achieve, that listen to what my heart truly desire. And it's also a will that does not condone childish insults that have no constructive basis- a self-defense of self-esteem. People who know me when i was having my down time would think that i have changed. But the truth is in fact, I am being who I really am.

I don't believe in first impression. First impression, which most would like to argue, is important when you are looking for a job or maybe trying to hook up opposite sex. It is never an accurate gauge of what kind the person is. I always spend my initial contact with people not by believing in their niceties but instead observing behaviors with a hint of skeptics. The rest depends on judgement through experience.

When it comes to relationship, I scrutinize. I choose the ones i will give my time(time is the most precious thing that life has ever given) and effort to. Some may argue that they can have lots of friends and criticize my "pickiness" of friendship. These are people who do not really understand what is important to them. By having everyone your friend, you really do not have any true friend. These people are really just your network(people whom you try to make use of) who can choose to abandon you when you are worthless to them one day. So what if you have 500 friends on facebook? How many do you know well?

So now, do you think you really know me?

There can be miracles...

http://ndep.nv.gov/PHOTO/tahoe_sunset.htm

You go in as a brave man, you will definitely come out as a braver man. No matter how lousy you felt about yourself, no matter how disappointing you felt about yourself. At the end of the day, you had the courage to take your very first step in, against all doubts... you overcome.

As cliche as it sounds, you tried your best... it's all that matters. And you might not have notice it, but you definitely come out a better man.

So what economic crisis? So what energy crisis? So what food shortage? So what environment degradation? So what killer pandemic? So what climate change? So what terrorist threat? So what imminent nuclear war? So what Scalar weaponry proliferation? So what Yellowstone super volcano eruption? So what solar flare? So what geomagnetic reversal? So what cosmic collision?

Human has gone a long way in evolution to reach where we are. We stay and protect each other to ensure survivability. Today, there will be no difference. A small misguided group doesn't make a huge impact onto the global march for progress in all front. They are in fact a constant reminder of the bigger picture we share. The world has proven again and again that we can overcome anything.

Lets all focus on the beauty of our world. And make everyday as meaningful and beautiful as possible!

What doomsday 2012?

"There can be miracles, when you believe
Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles you can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe"

Spinning little thoughts...

Life's like that. Everyone is busy pondering and lamenting about the past and thinking about the future. More often than not, we often forget that we are living in the present. One day at a time--this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering.

To the world you may be be one person, but to one person you may be the world. We tend to have unfounded worries over things that we are afraid of losing. And it's because of this obsession that we often neglected the fundamental element that keeps you from losing something precious. Trust.

The greatest problem with communication is the illusion that it has been accomplished. And the greatest obstacle for accomplishment is the knot in your heart.

life is like a chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get. We live in a box of chocolate. You may not even like all the flavours that comes in the box, but there are nonetheless.

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.

Saturday, June 06, 2009

"There's so much fear, so much mistrust that has built up over the years. But if we choose to be bound by the past, we will never move forward...."

"...we have a responsibility to join together on behalf of the world that we seek -- a world where extremists no longer threaten our people, and American troops have come home; a world where Israelis and Palestinians are each secure in a state of their own, and nuclear energy is used for peaceful purposes; a world where governments serve their citizens, and the rights of all God's children are respected. Those are mutual interests. That is the world we seek. But we can only achieve it together.

...There's so much fear, so much mistrust that has built up over the years. But if we choose to be bound by the past, we will never move forward. And I want to particularly say this to young people of every faith, in every country -- you, more than anyone, have the ability to reimagine the world, to remake this world.

All of us share this world for but a brief moment in time. The question is whether we spend that time focused on what pushes us apart, or whether we commit ourselves to an effort -- a sustained effort -- to find common ground, to focus on the future we seek for our children, and to respect the dignity of all human beings.

It's easier to start wars than to end them. It's easier to blame others than to look inward. It's easier to see what is different about someone than to find the things we share. But we should choose the right path, not just the easy path. There's one rule that lies at the heart of every religion -- that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us. This truth transcends nations and peoples -- a belief that isn't new; that isn't black or white or brown; that isn't Christian or Muslim or Jew. It's a belief that pulsed in the cradle of civilization, and that still beats in the hearts of billions around the world. It's a faith in other people, and it's what brought me here today. "

Insatiable

A depressing and yet addictive feeling...
A haphazard bombardment of thoughts and conflicting feelings.
It's only when you felt dead that you know what it's like to feel alive...

When told not to play with fire, there's a seductive fiery element drawn towards the plasma within you.
It's only when you get burnt, will the words get engrave into your skull.
That playing with fire will only get you hurt.

Sometimes, just sometimes.
The fire is just too hard to resist.
